Last Thursday night after dinner Tanner, Hunter, and Landen had just finished eating and had went in their room to play. After about 3 minutes we hear this horrible horrible scream..... followed by all 3 boys yelling and screaming what sounded like, "Bear broke his arm, his arm is broken!" By that time we were already down the hall and in his room and Tanner is screaming such a heartbreaking hurt scream and holding his arm but it is just completely hanging and obviously broken. So Louie scooped him up before I could and we ran straight to the car and called and had our parents meet us down at the hospital to get the other boys and luckily my parents were right by the hospital when we called! So we rush him in and the nurses are like oh we will get you in here in a bit... until we showed them his sagging arm. So after x-rays we got to a trauma room and they gave him morphine and the Dr. came in told us that he had (obviously) broke both bones in his lower arm and he said it was one of those x-rays that you see across a room and go Wow! That's a bad one! I was so sad for him because he was in soo much pain and kept asking if we could fix his arm and he thought it was falling off. So the Dr said that he had to sedate him which has always been a fear of mine to have my kids sedated I don't know why but it just scares me. But luckily he wasn't going to need surgery or pins or anything. The ortho doctor was hours away but the Dr on call in the ER was great and said he could do a closed reduction and that he would use a very safe medicine to put him out. So thankfully Tanner didn't have to feel or see any of the stuff they had to do to straighten his arm back out. I will never forget the look in his eyes as they out him to sleep he was terrified but trying to be sooo tough. It broke my heart. I am so thankful the doctor let us be in the room and hold him while they did the procedure. The first thing he said when he started to wake up is... "My arm feels better" :) that was so good to hear because I knew he was really hurting before that. They put a half cast on it that is hard on top and bottom but the sides are not casted so that his swelling can go down. We will go back on Wednesday to hopefully get his full cast and let him pick a color!
So I am sure everyone is wondering what happened to cause such a severe break... well lets just say an "unnamed brother" got a little too rough while they were wrestling and jumped on Tanner's back while he was on all fours and Tanner said he felt his arm pop. The "unnamed brother" asked for me not to say he did it :) It was an accident and was really traumatic for all 3 boys (Tanner the most of course) they have all been having bad dreams about it. I am just glad it was only an arm and nothing worse. We will no longer be wrestling in our house needless to say!
I am soo proud of my little Bear! He was so tough and handled the whole thing better than most adults could. He hardly cried and would just whimper and then clench his teeth. He still isn't complaining much and is really trying to do alot more than he should! I think the hardest part now is trying to keep him from doing too much! He is such a sweet boy and we love him so much. Thank you to all our friends and family who have called and checked on him and brought him "prizes" we really appreciate it!
